I really like how Joe Kelly pitches this season. He has good stuff and the kind of mentality a good pitcher should have. His reaction on the filed reminds me of Josh Beckett back in 2007. He was pretty solid last night but suffered an unlucky 4th inning and an unfortunate solo homer which Victorino failed to catch. But overall he attacked the corners and away pretty well. He is the most stable starter in the rotation so far.
I don't quite like the decision John Farrell made to keep Kelly on the mound in the 6th inning. I have no problem with the game plan that Mujica for the 7th and Tazawa for the 8th, but Kelly was over a hundred pitches and you can clearly see that he starts to lose control. After a wild pitch and an walk, he's out. Mujica was in and ended the inning. Kelly recorded 118 pitches in the end.
The game became a bit of a drag after that so I fired up my Apple TV and started watching Star Wars: A New Hope the third or fourth time in my life. My girlfriend started getting bored and turned to play some games on my phone. When Luke and Obi-Wan was busy searching for a pilot in Mos Eisley Cantina, my girlfriend saw a notification popping up on my phone and told me, "Xander Bo... gaer... I can't pronounce his name! He hits a walk-off single. What's a walk-off single?"
I smiled but cursed myself missing this great moment.
